Yours to Keep by Shannon Stacey

Sean Kowalski no sooner leaves the army than he’s recruited by Emma Shaw to be her fake fiancé. Emma needs to produce a husband-to-be for her grandmother’s upcoming visit, and, though Sean doesn’t like the deception, he could use the landscaping job Emma’s offering while he decides what to do with his civilian life. And, despite his attraction to Emma, there’s no chance he’ll fall for a woman with deep roots in a town he’s not planning to call home.

Emma’s not interested in a real relationship either; not with a man whose idea of home is wherever he drops his duffel bag. No matter how amazing his “pretend” kisses are…

“Yours to Keep” is the third book in a e-book series by Shannon Stacey about the Kowalski brothers/cousins from New Hampshire.  I liked the first two, “Exclusively Yours” and “Undeniably Yours” about Joe and Kevin, respectively.  Sean is their cousin, who, upon returning from active duty in Afghanistan, is roped into being a pretend fiancé for Emma Shaw.  Emma is trying to reassure her grandmother, Cat, that she is thriving in New Hampshire while Cat is living in Florida.  Emma has her own landscaping business and lives in her grandmother’s home, but it’s not until Emma tells a little fib about having a boyfriend and then fiancé that Cat really starts to believe that Emma is doing okay.  But then Cat decides to pay her granddaughter and her new fiancé a visit…

Immediately, it is clear to Cat that Sean and Emma are not in a real relationship, but she plays along and ropes Sean’s aunt into the scheme to try to get Sean and Emma to see how perfect they are together, and hilarity and romance ensue.

I really enjoyed this book.  It was a light and quick read and totally worth the time.  Emma was a little out there, and Sean was “such a guy,” but their chemistry (which I almost just spelled with a K) was obvious.  The ancillary story (a love story for Cat, as well) and background characters (like the Kowalski family) were great additions to the book and make it a well-rounded story.  I hope there are more books in this series.  Sean has family that we could really delve into.

Pecans: 4/5

I loved this book! I haven’t read the first two though, but I bought them after reading this one. Someday I will get to them but my TBR pile is huge and I read a lot but it just keeps growing and growing, thank God I’ve got a Kindle, otherwise I would be buried beneath it!
