Co-owner of the town’s only kennel, Lilah Young has lived in Sunshine, Idaho, all her life. Pilot-for-hire Brady Miller is just passing through. But he soon has Lilah abandoning her instincts and giving in to a primal desire.
It’s Brady’s nature to resist being tied down, but there’s something about Lilah and her menagerie that keeps him coming back for more.
Brady, an army vet who’s served overseas, now works as a pilot for hire, going all over. He likes being on the move. He doesn’t like being tied down. When his foster brothers, Dell and Adam, ask him to come to Sunshine to take a look at a helicopter they need to have fixed to use in their business, Brady takes the opportunity for a little time off. His first day back, he meets little miss Lilah as she hits his truck with her jeep. Oops. Sparks fly.
Lilah is the type of person who keeps things, like her old boyfriends who still orbit her, and the lost or abandoned animals she rescues. Brady, former foster child, keeps nothing and doesn’t like to be kept. They both have their issues but they have an attraction to each other that is undeniable and unavoidable.
I love to see a hero fall hard for someone when it’s the last thing he wants. The minute they start to think that she’s different from every other woman, you know it’s just a matter of time. What’s even better is when he starts to do things that are out of character just to be closer to the heroine. I am a sucker for an alpha male who thinks he makes the rules falling for someone who he cannot bend to his will. Lilah and Brady are this couple. They were funny and sweet and hot.
I am twiddling my thumbs anxiously awaiting the second book in the series, Animal Attraction, about Dell and Jade. The little glimpses we’ve seen of them in this book really whet my appetite. Once again, Jill Shalvis has made an irrestible hero and a strong heroine.
Two things that are sure fire ways a book is going to be great. Alpha males and puppies. I’m a sucker for both. 😛 This was a very cute book and a refreshing break from all the YA I have been obsessing over for the last year. Brady was someone I sure would like to meet, daylight or a dark alley. I completely feel for Lilah as I too am a sucker for animals and constantly try to find homes for strays. . . I also search petfinder waaayyyy to much. LOVED IT!
Can’t wait for the next one!! HEEELLLLOOOO DELL!!!
