Lundi Lagniappe {7}

Ruined by Paula Morris–Rebecca is sent from her home in New York to visit her “Aunt” in New Orleans when her dad has to go to China for a few months.  It’s hard to fit in with the old-line New Orleanean families and her only friend is a ghost named Lissette. Good, quick read.  I especially enjoyed it because of the New Orleans angle.  3.5/5

Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta–Very well written journey saga about a boy, Finnikin, who is looking for a long-believed dead heir to the throne of Lumatere, who can reunite it’s exiled citizens with those bound within it’s walls.  A girl named Evanjalin claims to know where he is.  Oh, I loved this book.  Melina Marchetta can do no wrong, in my eyes. Waiting patiently for book two, Froi of the Exiles.  4/5

Pride and Popularity by Jenni James (Jane Austen Diaries Book #1) –  Really cute book, a light fluffy read.  A retelling that gives you a nice break from the dystopians.  3/5

Attachments by Rainbow Rowell – women’s fiction, something I haven’t read in a long time.  LOVED IT.  Laughed out loud, cute book with a great guy.  4/5

    I started Finnikin… wish I had finished it! Also, Maggie… love how you say “A retelling that gives you a nice break from the dystopians.” You know us all too well! 🙂

    Oh!!! Attachments was one of my favorite books of last year! I’m so glad you liked it. She has a new book coming out later this year (next week if you’re in the UK), can’t wait to read it, I think it’s YA-ish… 😉

      I know! It was sooo cute! Idon’t read much women’s fiction as of late and was pleasantly surprised. I was debating on buying her new one through amazon uk which is how I got the jump on Jane Green books back in the day. ~Maggie
