Top 10 Tuesday #70

top-103

Hosted by the girls at The Broke and The Bookish, this week’s question:

Top Ten Books When You Need Something Light & Fun

Though I’m gonna cheat a little and do 10 authors I read when I want something Light & Fun

  1. Anything by Meg Cabot, though I’ve already read most of her books. They’re always good for a reread, though, because they are the very definition of light & fun.
  2. Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series. I’ve already read all of these, too, but they can definitely be reread because they’re just laugh out loud funny. My favorite is 12 Sharp because I’m a Ranger girl.
  3. Anything by Mary Kay Andrews.  She’s a southern chick lit writer and I love everything she has out. There are a few books that I haven’t read, but I’m hoarding them for when I’m really stumped for something to read.
  4. Robin Benway–I’ve read Also Known As and Audrey, Wait, and her writing is just so good and she’s funny. I’ll read anything she puts out.
  5. Jennifer E. Smith–When I “discovered” her last year, The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight had just been released, but I’d never heard of her before so I thought she was a debut author. It wasn’t until I read This is What Happy Looks Like this year that I realized she has a back list.  I bought one of her books recently and I’m very much looking forward to reading it soon.
  6. Kristan Higgins–One of my favorite authors, I wait impatiently every year for a new book to come out. I wish she would write faster! My favorite, and one I’ve read countless times, is Just One of the Guys.
  7. Jill Shalvis–Another favorite author, I’m a big fan of her Lucky Harbor series, but she has quite a backlist that I’ve not read yet and I’m slowly making my way through.
  8. Shannon Stacey–This romance author has some funny and hot books. I’m never disappointed. They’re like little macaroons that I can savor, they’re generally quick and a lot of fun.
  9. Susan Elizabeth Phillips–Another romance writer I love, her books are so funny and the characters are generally pretty terrific.
  10. Sophie Kinsella–I’ve not read a lot by this author, but whenever I do, I’m not disappointed. The heroines are usually pretty funny and clueless, but they really develop over the course of the book into more mature/responsible people. I’ve never been disappointed by any of ther books.

Well, that’s it for today! Kristina was not feeling well, so she sat out this week.

  1. I remember when I used to read EVERYTHING by Sophie Kinsella! She’s such a fun writer! And yes to Meg Cabot!!!! You cannot go wrong there! 🙂

      1. You’re welcome! Although I will say I haven’t liked many of her books other than Lucy Sullivan. Wouldn’t rec any of them to be honest.

  2. I always like Meg Cabot books, they are exactly ad they should be – light and a lot of fun.

Sophie Kinsella has been hit or miss for me. I didn’t like the last couple Shopaholic books, but the first couple were great!

    1. i only read the first shopaholic book, but it was cute. i can see how it would get old. but her standalones are pretty good. i read one by Madeline Wickham & there was cheating in it, so i haven’t picked up any of the others she wrote under this name.

    1. i’m slowly making my way through. loved I’ve Got Your Number. I’m listening to Twenties Girl. It’s funny. I love her heroines.

  3. Love the list! I also have the Stephanie Plum series and Sophie Kinsella on my list because they are just so fun!

I’ve heard a lot about Meg Cabot and just added her Size 12 is Not Fat to my TBR list. Can’t wait to give it a go!

  4. I am reading Meg Cabot’s Abandon right now, although it’s a bit darker, she does have me laughing. I really need to read Also Known As!

    Ashley @ The Quiet Concert

    1. the abandon trilogy is a little darker for meg, but it’s still funny & witty & swoon, which is what i keep coming back for 🙂
also known as was super cute! and it’s a series! so excited about that.

    1. it’s really good. you should totally read it. she has a couple others, as well, but i haven’t read them yet

  5. Ohhh amazing picks!! You know I love Meg Cabot & Janet Evanovich! If I had included adult books in mine, those would have been two of my first choices too 😀
Robin Benway and Jennifer E Smith are on my list as well!

      1. Yes! Another great choice. I’m so glad I got approved for the next Spellman book on Edelweiss. I think i’ll pick it up either end of May or beginning of June since the pub date is July 🙂

      2. i was thinking the same thing. would have done it for bout of books, but it’s not due out until july.

  6. I just want to crawl into my chair and hug your list. I’m becoming an Adult Contemporary Romance addict. I NEEED them. I crave their heart tugs & HEAs. I still need to read my first Sophia book, but I LURV you list hardcore.

    1. this makes me happy because sometimes i feel like the adult book reader in a sea of YA bloggers.

      1. I’ve been reading way more adult lately. I think it is because of you & Jess @ GwtWs & others. I’m picking up great adult books & that makes me want to read more.
