In eighteenth-century England, young Christopher “Kit” Bristol is the unwitting servant of notorious highwayman Whistling Jack. One dark night, Kit finds his master bleeding from a mortal wound, dons the man’s riding cloak to seek help, and changes the course of his life forever. Mistaken for Whistling Jack and on the run from redcoats, Kit is catapulted into a world of magic and wonders he thought the stuff of fairy tales.
This was a hard start for me which was a bit disappointing since I was looking forward to it so much. Thankfully that was over quickly and the story picked up quite a bit and delivered exactly what it’s title promised. I loved the cast of characters involved and very much look forward to their next adventure. I think the drawings throughout really made the story stand out and helped me visualize so much that I almost felt like I watched the movie version in my head while reading. This is definitely a fun, Princess Bride-like story that everyone will enjoy!
