Want to know what we were up to this week??
I listened to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and read Paper Girls 3.
For shows I finished series 8 of Doctor Who and watched PS I Still Love You
Well this wasn’t a big reading week for me. Work was crazy so I didn’t get much lunch break time to read so instead I listened to A LOT of podcasts while working. Listened to all current episodes for the same podcasts I mentioned last week, chiseled away a few more backlog episodes of Dark Poutine and I found a couple more podcasts to try soon. I subscribed to A Single Serving Podcast and Why Won’t You Date Me? with Nicole Byer. Both seem great but haven’t started either.
It was a tv week for me which is rare nowadays. I also watched PS I Still Love You and it was adorable. I also watched all three seasons of Atypical on Netflix – such a good show! I don’t know if anyone has watched but it follows a teen who is autistic and his family as he tries to have his own life and become independent. It looks like there will be a season four and can’t wait! Another show I watched the entire run of was Gavin and Stacey on Hulu. It was expiring soon and I’d been meaning to watch it for awhile now. Didn’t love it as much as Atypical but still great and I even watched the Christmas special from 2019. THAT ENDING?! I unfortunately didn’t get to The Farewell so I’ll have to request that one again later. I’m hoping to watch Hunters this weekend, another show I’ve been looking forward to.
I did read one book, my interlibrary loan The Plucker by Brom. Based on the story it seems to follow some African folk tales of sort though I’m not sure if that is also made up or actually true (I’m not familiar with many tales from other countries yet though they are on my to get to list!) but for the sake of a quick explanation it is a very dark and disturbing Toy Story like tale. Interesting read!
I did get book mail. I received Where Dreams Descend by Janella Angeles and Grown Ups by Emma Jane Unsworth. Very excited to read both! I also picked up Jessica Simpson’s bio from the library. I didn’t read any of The Raven King this week like I planned but as it is Mardi Gras time here and I have no plans in going my hope is to stay in this weekend, save some money, and do a bit of catch up in reading. I do have five audio books from the library right now and the max I can have is six so I definitely need to get those cleared up because I’m sure more will come in soon as is always the case with my audio requests. (Audios I currently have: Caraval by Stephanie Garber (reread for possible review and to continue series), Daring Greatly by Brene Brown (third time listening, hoping for the lessons to stick soon), Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid, The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert (reread so I can start The Night Country), and The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern.
A reminder that Daph started a Gone Pecan instagram so please give us a follow. You can find us @kiki.daphne Thanks!
What are you reading now? Listening to? Watching? Let me know so I can add more to the list.
